Central N.H. Shakes But Nothing Breaks from Small Quake

March 23, 2007

A 2.7 magnitude earthquake rattled central New Hampshire on Wednesday morning, but there were no reports of damage.

Experts said that the earthquake was centered in Campton, about six miles north of Plymouth.

“I was upstairs working in the marina, and the building started to shake,” marina employee Bill Gaw said in Ashland. “It lasted three or four seconds. We weren’t sure what it was.”

Some people said they didn’t feel anything.

Joyce Bouley, who lives near the epicenter, said that she felt “kind of a rumbling of the house, and I thought it was a big truck going by.”

Residents said they didn’t notice anything broken by the earthquake.
