The International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI) will be holding their 16th Annual Training Seminar Feb. 26- March 1 at the Hilton Hotel in Virginia Beach, Va.
IAMI offers annual and regional conferences to further the training and
knowledge of private industry, as well as public law enforcement personnel.
IAMI was founded in 1986 when Major Dave MacGillis, of the Florida Marine Patrol, organized and published the Vessel Theft Investigators National Roster. This roster assisted investigators combating marine crime by providing contact persons from various agencies involved in
marine theft investigations throughout the world in order to help facilitate the exchange of information on this growing crime sector.
IAMI became a member organization in 1990 and in 1999, the organization went International with a European chapter. IAMI has issued more than 2,000 memberships to investigators representing the public and private sectors in the United States and around the world.
The 16th Annual Training Seminar is an opportunity not just for law enforcement personnel, but for those insurance industry personnel working with marine claims and underwriting capacities. Training courses will include: Marine Vessel Identification, Marine Insurance Fraud Investigation, Marine Accident Investigation & Claims Handling among other topics for the insurance community.
