She RAN A RED LIGHT. The design time of the light should be reviewed not sued. One minute or five minutes she was old and she was wrong. The engineers who designed it did not cause the accident, it prevented 100 others. If the time is too long they are wrong if it is too short they are wrong, engineers cannot win.

Get a grip people, she was 99% at fault.

the only comment I have to your way of thinking is it must smell pretty bad where you have your head. To always assume that “Corporate America” is just wrong shows your lack of critical thought. Another person ran a red light. Maybe she was late to her bunko party with you!

2.6 million, how much life insurance did this person have on himself if any? That is what should be awarded. Law suit awards are out of control and the judges and lawyers need to fix this problem. The family should only be awarded the amt of insurance the deceased carried on himself, or the amount of income he would have generated until retirement. That is the value he put on his life.

Let’s be real here, the only factor that played a part is sympathy. Either the responsible party had no insurance or limited insurance and the jury felt sorry for the estate.

Eveyone has sympathy for a family in such a predicament, but this should not enough to compensate her with the only prevailing issue being a deep pocket.

While I’d feel bad for the wife, I hope the verdict is overturned in appeal.

Heck, the judge should have set aside the verdict and issued in favor of the corporate defendant.

While I don’t know anything as it pertains to this case other than what is written in this article, it is pretty clear this case had a lot of emotional “appeal”…

Why, does he owe you money???? Well, lets hope the higher court comes to their senses and overturns the verdict on appeal.
