A Helena, Mont., couple that rented a greenhouse to a medical marijuana operation have sued their insurance broker after their insurance company denied a $75,000 damage claim filed following a federal raid of the operation.
The Independent Record reports the lawsuit by Helena Glass and Stove Works, owned by Scott and Stephanie Nelson, was filed Friday in District Court in Helena.
The lawsuit alleges the Nelsons told their broker, Insurance Unlimited, that they were renting the space to Montana Cannabis, but the broker failed to forward that information to Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Co.
Farmers Alliance denied the claim for property damage from the March 2011 federal raid.
Company officials with Insurance Unlimited were not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
