A settlement of a race discrimination lawsuit against the Baltimore Police Department calls for a payment of $2.5 million to more than a dozen plaintiffs.
The plaintiffs had claimed that black officers were punished more harshly than white officers.
The department will also hire a consultant to monitor the internal disciplinary process for the next three years.
The Board of Estimates must approve the settlement.
