The unfortunate little claimant had eyelids which felt like sand paper on the inside and she sat in a cardboard box “for months” as “treatment” ???? Who ARE these people ????
Now, Brown Green is the heavyest of heavy weight Pltf attorneys, and even HE couldn’t turn this dross into gold.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is usually associate with sallicilate drugs such as aspiren, not ibuprofin, so I would love to hear what Mr. Brown;s Experts had to say about causation – never mind, delay in seeking treatment.
With so many rare things that can happen when taking medication there is only so much that can be put on the label. Heck, even the drug commercials on television spend half the commercial telling the possible common side effects. The key is keeping in communication with the doctor.
For all that it is tragic the girl lost her sight I hope J&J wins the appeal.
I agree wholehartedly Debbie & lastbat..
there are no real winners…What I can’t understand is why they allow drug manufacturers to adverstise prescription meds…have you heard/read all the adverse side effects let alone having the general public try to diagnose their own ailments? Ridiculous! (sorry sis, I know you are a drug rep for a famous Pharmeceutical company, but please, it has to stop!)
That cat has already escaped the bag SFO. With the web based medical and drug sites out there it’s hypocondriac heaven. My spouse has at least 40 known conditions she has diagnosed herself. I totally agree with you on drug company advertising. It’s never made any sense to me.
Calif, correction…..Stevens-Johnson Syndrome has been connected to NSAIDs
(non-steroidal anitinflammatry drugs) such as aspirin and yes, Motrin…Motrin is an NSAID. The syndrome is an allergic reaction to something…I suppose that the paintiffs couldn’t actually prove that it was casued by the Motrin.
Every product has side effects. What do we ban? I like the Jeff Foxworthy routine about side effects listed on a bottle of medicine. They go on forever. If you look at some side effects that are shown for prescription medications they do appear to be more serious than the problem. It’s terrible that this happened, but the existence of deep pockets is not an excuse for penalizing this company.

J&J should fight this one all the way
While I have much sympathy for this child and her family, I have to agree with the verdict. There are no real winners here.
You are right Debbie.

Still, a sad case, any way you look at it.
