gee, sounds just like the Florida coastal dwellers that want the federal government and the rest of the country to pay so they can have cheap insurance and live on the beach. If you want a secluded, protected scenic home far from crowds and development, what do you think is going to happen when there’s a forest fire?

That says it all: “…bureaucratic backbiting…”. What else to inept politicians do? Good comment, Tom.

I live in North Tahoe….40 years ago it bacame illegal to cut trees on your own property, they thought to many people would just cut trees down to improve their view of the lake, and the place would lose it’s beauty. Now the density of the forest is very unnatural, and a dangerous fire hazard. Folks don’t want special insurance treatment, they just want to be able to protect their home when the fire hits. The State mandates the local fire depts to advertise “defensable space” but you literally can not cut down 8″ trees. BTW, the lake is beautiful today!
