    It’s called “proof of insurance”, normally in the form of a card or letter from the insurance company listing the vehicle and name of the person insured. If you had insurance you would know that.

    Most major companies here in Calif. already transmit to the DMV when the vehicle is insured, this is automatic. We have many undocumented workers who drive junkers. The cars are not registered, not insured, and the drivers are unlicensed. It’s a daily crap shoot as to whether you will be hit by one of the 25% of uninsured drivers in this b-e-autiful state.
