    DWC MEDICAL MILEAGE RATES
    7-1-97 – 9-30-01 31.0 cents
    10-1-01 – 6-30-06 34.0
    7-1-06 – 12-31-06 44.5
    1-1-07 – present 48.5

Above are the DWC and IRS Rates from 2001 to present date. In 2006 and 2007 the DWC increased their rates quoted to be TIED IN WITH THE IRS RATES. Does anyone know what forced DWC to make this change when the gas hikes have been going on for some time now? If you will notice, there was a special increase for the last four months of 1995 because of the higher gas prices. Nothing happened to the DWC rates, did they? No, in fact, the DWC rates have been the same, 34 cents per mile, since 10-1-01, over five years ago. Doesn\’t anyone question this? What was the actual reason DWC did change their rates so drastically in 1996 and 1997? Someone was behind it. Was a bill passed that we are not hearing about? Do not the workers\’ comp applicants have a right to know? And, why have we been given these lower rates for so long? In other words, why all of a sudden the change. Someone was behind it. Compare the IRS rates with the DWC rates!!!! IRS had five rate increases before the new DWC increase in 2006!
