I have never owned a slave.

Let me try one out for 2 weeks, and I’ll let you know if it is worth the reparations.

This all started with the advent of affirmative action. Don’t get me wrong on this…I am all for equal opportunities for everyone. The problem is, reverse discrimination is still discrimination!!! Quotas for certain ethnic groups in the workplace…all of it…is bogus and profoundly unfair!

I never owned a slave, nor did my parents (unless you count me), or my grandparents. The people this is intended to benefit were never slaves, nor were their parents or (most likely) their grandparents. Leave the past where it belongs and move on with life!

I came from a working class family and worked 40-60 hours a week to put myself through college. This was in addition to the student loans I’ll be re-paying for the next 10 years. Did you know there are fewer opportunities for a white male to get a grant or scholarship than for any other demographic segment of our population? How then are minorities repressed by the system and unable to get an education? I agree that most of it is pure laziness and settling for a free handout from the government (courtesy of my hard work, thank you very much…talk about reparations!!!) rather than a willingness to exert a little effort and better their station in life the way some of us have. No offense to those of any race/group who did put in the necessary work.

For the rest, stop living off of my work…Welfare was designed as a stop-gap to assist those in need to regain the ability to care for themselves, not create a free ride for the lazy and stupid. Strange how stations change in life. The career welfare receivers are just the modern version of slave owners…they make their living on the sweat and hard work of the tax paying workers of this country.

    How’s that for irony?

The main issue of the Civil War was never slavery. It was always about the state versus federal rights and powers.

Slavery was a secondary issue that had the benefit of generating a lot of attention and acting as a catalyst.

i think it’s bullcrap to pay for restitution for something that happened over 150 years ago.yes,i do agree that slavery was and is a sicking act of mankind.however,i don’t have any past ties to slavery.im not giving my hard earned money to some dam bum who thinks he/she is due because of our past history.they can work hard just like i do and earn it.no one has ever give me anything like that.the only thing free ive ever gotten is a job.try it works.

this is the preamble to the politically correct manifesto. First the big money then on to the average taxpayer. The reparations scam will be the biggest shakedown in American history.Something for nothing? Sounds good to me. Yeah I want to know when I can recieve my free college education or extortion check for all my WHITE ancestors who were kept in bondage. Anyone who does not know/care that whites were also kept in slavery is either ignorant or a card carrying member of the NAACP (National Association of Always Complaining People). “The reparations scam”,…comming to a town near you!

this is a bunch of stupid ideas. The slaves were better off than the over worked people in the northern states. This is nothing but all about trying to get something for nothing….instead of working for your money…..Long live the Southern Confederacy…it’s still here!

    Very well put.

Basically, if you want to be like “us” then act like us; get the chip off of your shoulder, get off your lazy *** and work for a living to earn your own money and in return respect. Put your energy into something constructive and heck, you might even develop a work ethic and better your own world while you are at it!

The guy who mentioned \”Reparations\” hit the nail on the head. Laws like this one lay the groundwork for it. \”Money Talks and BS Walks\” – it\’s the one principle that has driven historical events since the first trade route was established.

There is hardly one civilization in history that has not practiced slavery at one time or another. It was \”standard operating procedure\” for everyone at one time or another – PERIOD! Get over it already.

Why aren\’t African countries being made to apologize? Or the European countries? Or the Islamic Countries? Or China? All practiced slavery at one time or another? I\’ll tell you why – because America has the $$$$$$ and the Snivel Rights Industry has their sights set on those greenbacks!

Establishing scholarship funds won\’t help if the kids they are intended for don\’t have mommies and daddies waiting at home to encourage them to LEARN, or if their so-called educators tell them that they don\’t have to learn to read, speak and write the \”King\’s English\”. This BS is just another attempt by liberal legislators and social engineers to blow smoke up the peoples\’ collective a**ses!

What is needed now is a lawmaker who will stand up and call these guys what they are, (I could think of any number of descriptive terms), or a contractor who will show up with a bunch of cement trucks sporting bumper stickers that say \”Don\’t Like My Slavery? Call 1-800-UP-YOURS\”.

Somebody put out an all points bulletin for Tom Hayden\’s BA**S. Ask Jane where they went?!
