“Thanks to an arcane state law, Florida could enter hurricane season with no one firmly in charge of the state agency responsible for regulating the state’s at-times fragile insurance industry.”
why does the author put this as the lead line in the story when McCarty states he will stay for 45 days after the new head is picked?
the statement is completely false, as proven right in the same article.

Belinda Miller is, far and away, the most qualified individual who applied for the position. It is refreshing to see that she remains under consideration, but disappointing that it has taken this long for the powers that be to reach this point. Having worked under Ms. Miller in several professional capacities (her’s and mine), it quickly became clear that she is natively smart, has immense industry and institutional knowledge, and an unparalleled ability to work with others in a productive and non-confrontational way. Many readers will not know me, but I have personal knowledge of Ms. Miller’s abilities and professionalism. Characteristics such as her’s are those that the position demands. Respectfully to the other applicants, she is the only choice. And no, she and I do not work together any longer, nor did she solicit these comments.
