Prosecutors dropped charges against a 51-year-old man arrested in connection with a workers’ compensation scheme in Pinellas County last year.
In July, five North Pinellas residents were accused of running the scheme that cost victims more than $130,000, the state Department of Financial Services said.
The scam stemmed from Preferred Staffing of America, where customers were misled to think that the company provided workers’ compensation insurance, officials said.
Joseph T. Jordan, of Palm Harbor, was accused of sending clients to the company for commissions.
He was arrested on charges of scheme to defraud and selling insurance without a license, but the charges were dropped earlier this month, court records show.
