A Guilford County, N.C., woman has been charged with setting a fire that damaged 18 apartments in Durham and displaced dozens of people from their homes.
Authorities say 21-year-old Ricela Salom Rebollar-Valdez was charged early Sunday with first- and second-degree arson. She also faces breaking and entering charges.
Investigators say the fire at the Springfield Apartments started Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported, but 34 people lost their homes. Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion while fighting the fire.
Rebollar-Valdez was being held without bond, and it wasn’t known if she had an attorney.
