    It’s Bush’s fault, of course.

yes, it is partially the Bush administration and the other oil bought politicians fault!

Industry connected hacks were in regulatory mgmt positions and ruled by industry wish rather than science based risk mgmt.

Regulatory controls on US offshore drilling are minimal – far less than those in the North Sea. The blow out preventer is questionable, old control method and was used without redundancy.

The Gulf Coast politicians all supported “keep the gov’t out” “don’t impede production” “the industry are experts, not the gov’t”etc etc

It’s now time to pay the proverbial piper.

Give Jindal, Vitter and the other hypocrites a bucket and shovel and tell them to get shoveling

I think Lon is onto the solution for this mess and the financial mess this administration is getting us into. Shovels and a big bucket to dig us out of the sh*t the big O, Pelosi and Reid have gotten us into.

thank you for calling the hypocrits exactly what they are. Why should Obama be on FL beaches when they are not shut down and people are still on them? Why should Obama be there when he has the WHOLE country to worry about? WHY should a democratic politician even care what these folks say when the presidential election was robbed from them by FL in 2000? Yeah, Jeb was there; it was his JOB to be there as gov of FL in 2004/2005…

No one wants “big government” except when they want its money. Everyone wants a “free market” and now look what it has got us….oil rolling onto marshes, other national wildlife treasures destroyed, fishermen’s grounds destroyed, people’s livlihood ruined. Thank you, Benevolent capitalism.

it is all about checks and balances. There is no better check on big capitalism than big government….its the fact that the politicians are bouhgt and sold that gums up the balance necessary.

Stop Obama bashing; he AIN’T the problem here.

I hate to agree with you Cassy, but I do. I do not see any evidence that Obama is at fault in the BP disater. I feel it was/is BP’s responsiblity to prevent this and to stop it.

Don’t get me wrong, I am no lover of Obama and this admin. Forcing their health care bill was irresponisible, and there are many other things that I could say about it, but I will decline for now. I dislike partisan politics in general. In my experiance, when someone subscribes to a political party, be it republican or democrat, they then seem to stop thinking for themselves about political issues and let the party they identify think for them. I saw a great picture recently. It was a picture of the census that really summed up partican politics well. It read “Are you a…” and it had two boxes to choose. “Racist” or “Socialist”.

But heed my words. Right now, many democrats are blaming the prior administration for all the problems that the current administration has. Before that, When Bush was in office, people were blaming Clinton for many problems that Bush had in the beginning. Its a vicous circle. Point and blame. Who was the president that had a plaque on his desk “The buck stops here”? We need that kind of president, and that kind of administration, again.
