Computer Error Kept West Virginia Mine from Receiving Safety Warning

    You can only do so much to make an inherently dangerous job safe. Mines have always been and will always be dangerous. This latest explosion involved a mine that was retro-fitted with survival pods; nobody made it to them. Miners know the risks and assume them because it’s the best paying jobs they can find because of no skill or education. Sad situation, but they accept it generation after generation.

    The Director of the Mine Safety and Health Administration should be fired for incompetence. Responsible people who rely on electronic communication usually follow-up to confirm it was received. It this happened to one it’s happened to others.
