HomeWise is being scooped up by 21st Century Holdings as far as I know. I think one company that almost lost its Demotech rating will compliment the company that actually did lose that rating quite well.
Like it or not, the only way this mess will be straightened out will be when we get hit by a category 3 or 4 storm and the State can’t pay for the claims.
That is when the cat will come out of the bag and all will see just how reckless and irresponsible the State has been all these years.
Mr. Solvent,
Just curious, who are the select few that you are writing with? I am an agent too and would like your input. Fortunately I only have a few NC policies that were takeouts from Cit. I have been lucky that the few home carriers I represent have not dissolved.
I won’t say whether I write with these carriers or not, but these are some carriers that I personally believe are in pretty good shape. Again, this is opinion only:
* ASI
* Florida Peninsula (look at their surplus to premium)
* Southern Fidelity (again surplus to premium)
* Tower Hill but after the AM Best downgrade I’m keeping my eyes on them
* Universal Property and Casualty (due to size)
* Universal Insurance Company of North America (due to rating and regional status)
* Florida Family (due to rating)

Good day!
Now Olympus is under the microscope.
Who is next to go under?
