I’m not discrediting the entire supoena because I’m sure some of it is valid. But to request filings over 10 years old when the state only requires companies keep files 7 years is a little silly. It just seems to me that the intentionally making it difficult to produce all documentation within their timeframe.

Untill you read the 15 page subpoena, its difficult to grasp why Allstate couldn’t comply if they wanted to. Would a boxcar hold the requested info. What would OIR actually do with it, if they had it.
Bottom line: If Allstate is $1400 and another is $1000, the problem will solve itself. This IS America.

Allstate has already told the Wall Street Journal they are going to keep writing new policies anyway. They have 15 days to file their next appeal or comply. What happens if Allstate simply keeps writing business? Then what? This could get pretty entertaining.

Allstate is not ‘crooks’. Thats just the rhetoric of the day. Some call names when displeased. They asked for @40% rate increase, FL gestapo decided to make an example. Poor choice politically for both.
As for agents: Allstate changed the contract unilaterally. Agents trying to protect self. Shame on Allstate, yet thats business.
FL needs the fiancially stable companies to stay here. After the next storm, all these little startups will vanish, and we taxpayers will pick up the tab. Personally dont care for Allstate, yet FL gov’t should behave, do whats right, and quit running for the next election.

that is the key to the whole issue…the political thinkheads are trying to keep folks happy by stating they are looking into it and requesting the information. a vote is not worth it, if the actual litigation of the process is going to extend beyond the election date. because if the issue is not resolved prior, they are going lose the vote anyway.

you are right, the next storm coming in may wipe out the new businesses. they may not have enough funds avail for a catastrophic event. because hurricanes are unpredictable, not even sure how much money they will need to set aside for this events. in the end, it could costs taxpayers even more money.

    BRAVO JIMMY

It’s about time somebody wrote something that was worth reading. And, while you’re up on the hill, suggest a mandate requiring Wind Mits for all windstorm policies!!!! Let’s level the playing field for homeowners.

Jimmy, sad to hear your rhetoric. Really like to see the facts. Could you state what Allstate has lied about. I hadnt seen the state concerned about any lying.
Wind Mit is mitigation, somewhat difficult for regular people to get the credits.

Listen all you apologists. I own a LARGE company and am all about maximizing profits. But when your way to max profits is by strategically minimizing your responsibility to clients with the inevitable outcome of increasing their misery – that’s just wrong. Do you get the word WRONG? Like your mom telling you not to lie? That’s WRONG. It shouldn’t have to take a court or politicians or legislators to tell you all when something is WRONG. Happy shareholders don’t turn a wrong into a right. And the truth is – you do know this. And when you are lying (double entendre intended) in bed in your older age – with no one but yourself – you will feel it in a way that will depress you beyond imagining. Wake up and grab something better than greed and misery. And whether you do or not – you will be taken down. It would be better if the entire property insurance business collapsed, then to continue this sham. And since I happen to be one of the people who have some slight influence on the situation you can be sure I will be there.
