I’m sure his brother-in-law will step in an intervine with some congressional bill that will take funds away from the state of Alabama for highway improvements. It’s funny how Trent Lott only became interested to the point that he did when his own home was destroyed.
Unfortunately, they will come out smelling like a rose. Appears Scruggs has something over the origianl US Attorney. I would like to know her reason for not pressing charges.

It should be interesting to see how this “case” could bring out the very information State Farm has been trying to keep hidden from the general public, and set the pace for “others” to be held in contempt of ignoring congressional orders…

    David:
The main problem with the original prosecutor is incompetence. She was the same one that could not get a guilty verdict on Scrushy in the first Scrushy trial. Fear of an embarasing whiping in court would appear to be her main reason

It’s about time this sleaze ball gets held accountable. Let’s wait and see if he gets more than a verbal scolding.

If you read the article, the Judge requested “Scruggs” to turn over the documents himself. Not to the AG or anyone else. Anything outside of the order is contempt. Plain and simple. I know this might be a small item in the grand scheme of things but contempt is contempt. Any other attorney would be brought up on the same charges. The judge can’t be showing favorites in such a high profile case. Everyone is watching.

What is really happening is the judge is trying to cover up and hide possible ALL evidence of misdeeds.

Scruggs did nothing sleazy. He is subject to state and federal law. He complied with the state and turned over all documents.

If the judge wants to take issue, he needs to do so with the Attorney General. It seems that he is trying to persecute as opposed to prosecute Scruggs as he could easily request a copy of the documents from the AG if he wants the….as opposed to hiding them.

I think AG Hood did in fact turn the files over to the court, but not before making a copy for his office. The Judge doesn’t want any outstanding copies, for just what you say. He wants to be the Judge and Jury if there is anything in the files. He is of the opinion that he is the center of the universe. His ego has gotten the best of him. The northern district prosecutor who turned down the demand by the Judge is afraid of a public whipping by the Scruggs Group, probably the last she could tolerate and keep her job.
