Here, here JJ. You’re right on the money. My sympathies go out to the boy, but why is it somebody has to pay even when they aren’t negligent or liable. Kind of makes you question our legal protection.

Hey, did we forget about the manufacturer of the tire?

but no mention in the articles I googled about whether he had a seatbelt. I have driven 30K plus miles per year for over 20 years. My wife drives about half that. I always make sure that we have good tires. I hate the french but always run Michelins and replace them when I think tire tread levels may compromise safety. I guarantee you there is more to the story than is being published, but for multiple PC reasons we don’t get to know it. Believe half of what you see, people, and that includes what you read.

GF….you’re correct. For all we know, the mother fell asleep, struck a concrete divider that caused the tire to blow, lost control, then over-corrected causing the rollover. Can’t believe nobody brought the tire company in.

Since the vast majority of sport-ute/van roll-over accidents are thf ault of bad driving, and not auto engineering or tire blowouts, it’s a pity we all have to pay for the injuries and damages these accidents cause. We all, certainly, are concerned and offer our sympathy to the victims, but if you buy a vehicle with a high center of gravityand soft suspension, you should expect to roll-over.

Holy crap, nice racist slurs against Mexicans and their poor driving abilities. I’m going to go ahead and throw up now realizing the kinds of **** bags that work in this industry.

And while we’re on the subject, I take umbrage at your insult of insurance industry people. I don’t know your background and quite frankly don’t care, but if you’re on this blog I presume you are one of us, self-righteous as you may be.

I have been in Claims for 35 years. I believe that qualifies some commentary based on actual experience. There are two kinds of people who make insurance claims and/or file lawsuits. The first category, comprised by the vast majority of people, are those honest folk who simply want to be restored to their pre-loss position. They pay their premiums and deserve the fullest extent of policy coverage. The second category is comprised of the stupid, greedy, and abusers. This group, comprised of a comparatively small percentage of folks, looks to blame someone else for their own stupidity, and/or seize the opportunity of an unfortunate situation to magnify their losses and reap a profit.

The fact is, this happened in Florida and it’s no secret that there is a high concentration of Hispanics there. It’s also no secret that many of them are here to take advantage of the freedoms and benefits few of them participated in earning through either hard work or giving their lives in various wars. I’ve seen it time and time again, when a jury has a majority of certain ethnics, rationality and fact goes out the window and emotion takes over. Awards are made on sympathy and allegiance instead of facts. You can bet they won’t let “one of theirs” go home without money. In this case, “somebody had to pay” in spite of whether there was any liability. Your audacity in playing the race card is an affront to members of the insurance community.

Sounds like to much information was left out of this article to provide any real story here… Just enough to rile up those easily riled & not enough for those that like to know the how, when & where, prior to establishing their own position.

But it does look like once again, there are a select few that must pull punches by putting someone else down in order to make them feel better about themself. To those, I hope you pull your head out of the oraphus is seems to be wedged into.

    Happy Monday!

I personally live in Minneapolis, which is a grab-bag of all types of minorities, and my experience is they do not drive as well. I drive about 40k miles a year. Take it or leave it, but please feel free to call me a racist, since to me that will only confirm your ignorance.

It’s no secret that foreigners are terrible drivers. Have any of you ever vacationed in the carribean? You take your life in your hands with the way they drive there so why should it be any different when they come over here to take advantage of our welfare system? Most hispanics drive these peice of crap vans and drive them poorly. They are more interested in spending “their” money on non-essential things to help their fiesta partying. We pay for their essentials, so hey, why should they? Where was the father by the way? Out making his 17th baby with his 30th chica?
