My home insurance carrier non renewed me & I have been shopping for replacement insurance. (Vacation home that is rented seasonally). I have about 6 quotes. Lowest @ $396, highest @ $2100 and all in-between. Most of the quotes are with Florida based carriers that carry an A rating with Demotech but are not rated with AM Best. Presumably this is b/c of inadequate surplus and/or they are relatively new carriers. The highest rate is on the excess market. I have no idea what to do here. I do want to pay the least, but I also want a carrier with the resources to pay a claim if ever one should arise.

What are all these people doing that are being non-renewed in the state of Florida?

I welcome comments, observations and advice from anyone in the know.

all crist has done on either one of these sujects was to use it to get elected,& then forget it. If you vote for the tax reform, as the insurance you will also loose there
