For a few years now, policies (ISO) have been issued catering to insureds with 8th grade reading level. Can you even read your high school diploma if you can’t handle a simple policy?

For the past year, Citizens Property Insurance Corp. officials have repeated the mantra that quality customer service and claims handling are top priorities.

But it would be hard to convince Lake Worth resident Tamara Clausen of that. She’s had to wait 20 months to get her claim resolved.

To be sure, claims disputes over damages are part of the game that insurers and their customers play after a storm. Still this game was extreme by anyone’s standards: Citizens paid Clausen $53,000 on an approximate $300,000 claim.

Reports by Citizens’ own adjusters show she was owed something closer to the $300,000 figure.

Even more difficult to see is why Clausen was denied living expenses, a basic part of her policy, to pay first for her motel rooms and then later for a rental apartment

Ok Section 1 -LIBILITY_ COVERAGE A page 7 9947.7 2 defend any suit against an insured for such damages with attorneys hired and paid by us. We will not defend any suit after we have paid the applicable limit of our liability for the accident which is basis of the lawsuit.

State Farm appealed, arguing that all parties in the chain of distribution of a defective product should be jointly and severally liable, otherwise an injured consumer will be left with little or no remedy if, as in this case, most of the fault is apportioned to an insolvent member of the distribution chain,” according to court documents.

The Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling in mid-summer.

Ok why do we pay for Policy,s- none of this is in my policy- ok run a put it in why no one is looking.

The State Farm/Renfroe case has intersting ramifications for carriers seeking to set up thier own documentation retention programs. Any tips from those who have a good doc. retention program in place? How did you do it? When did you do it? What prompted your setting it up?
