    OK here it goes,
1st) shut up about living in the middle of the bullseye, we are here and some are leaving but you idiots keep coming here from other states.
2nd) this morning there is 10 states under flood watches and FLORIDA is NOT one of them. Washington DC is under water, the IRS building is flooded, the National archives building is flooded and numerous other national treasures are in jeopardy. Ohio will take weeks to dry out if the rain ever stops, there is still fires in the west. tornadoes in the plains, and a dirt wall around a hole in the ground that we call Louisiana that, like it or not your federal tax dollars will pay to rebuild. Florida has hurricanes, so does any other coastal states, but Florida does not have, ice storms, blizzards, tunnel colapses, earthquakes (yet) or many of the perils that affect other states. Citizens is here and here to stay, no one likes it but until we change the political climate you will NEVER get any company to invest capital in this state with the hope of a maximum 5% profit if you never pay a claim. Citizens is a screwed up, expensive, corrupt, unfriendly, technology challenged, financially crushed solution to our hopefully temporary crisis. If they closed the doors today, approx 1,300,000 people would have NO way to get insurance coverage. So unless you have a solution that will work and can actually be implemented without people going to jail, the residents and agents of Florida politetly ask you to go help clean up another state that has problems today and get off the kick that Florida is costing you money. If you don\’t live here you know someone that does, come help them move so another of your friends can come on down to the destination that millions seems to want to come to, it will not stop because of hurricanes or expensive insurance. Give a solution or you are part of the problem. Most of the solutions that will work will never be put in place in an election year because thats the way politics work in every state, even yours. By the way do you have flood insurance, more Floridians have flood insurance than ANY other state, I suppose you could say that Florida is subsidizing all the floods in the rest of the entire country since we pay more into the national flood program than anyone else, more than the next 5 states combined. Shall I go on??? A NATIONAL CAT FUND WILL HELP PROTECT EVERY STATE FOR THE LOSSES THAT THEY MAY HAVE, No one has mentioned anything about each state paying the same amount, look at it before you condemn it.

Well….JR is obviously a Democrat that wants the government to take care of everybody and oversee any problem any person or state may have. Cat Fund ? – It is amazing to me that any person wants to have another tax. Lets just give the government more money. There is an AP article today about the $2 billion lost to fraud due to Katrina. That\’s Federal money because Nagin and Blanco had no plans for a catastrophic event. I blame the media as well as the government.

As far as the flood and catastrohhic issues in other states – there is not aother state with the issues or problems, politcal or weather related that Florida has. You are a corrupt lost cause and I am not \”funding\” a Cat Fund for you.

Lastly – do you really think companies are only getting a 5% profit, when there is a profit. Come on. I work for an insurance company in Florida and I can promise you the owner is not living the high life on 5 %. The majority of companies have reinsurance and are still making a profit even with the hurricanes. Those without adequate reinsurance are in trouble – like Poe. They knew they had a problem and took premium dollars anyway. The state allowed it.

And….by the way – I do have a solution. The industry has a number of ideas. You won\’t like them, and the politicians that you vote in, won\’t allow them to be heard. The Democratic Party needs your dependency.

Well you sure read to far into things, I am a staunch republican, but feel that our elected officials here are a big part of the problem, they have done as much as you to fix the problem, nothing. Go ahead give us your ideas, we will give you credit if they work. And YES the state statues are very clear regarding the profit cap in the Florida market place. That does not mean that companies don\’t waste a lot of money and over pay executives, but if the profit potential were good here why are companies bailing out, because the political climate sucks and there is not enough money in it. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, or they would be lined up at the state line waiting to file papers. Lets play your game, Citizens is cancelling all policies in 30 days, now what do you propose??? 1,300,000 people would like your phone number, do you have a market that includes wind, offers acceptable coverage, has resonable deductibles and is affordable, affordable, affordable. What would you tell these folks, and lets not forget that there is another 650,000 policies being dropped by other carriers, like Allstate, Nationwide, AutoOwners, etc. I am not a fan of big government, but when the private market is broken because of govenment regulation and years of price suppression every one thanks God that Citizens is here until the market is fixed, but then you apparently have no plan to fix it, do you.
We all think this sucks, but put up or shut up. If people can\’ afford insurance they won\’t buy it and then YOUR tax dollars will bail them out anyway with FEMA and SBA loans, so pay now or pay later. I never want to look for the government for any help and I have taken every precaution I can, but a lot of people are not as fortunate, and your government will use your tax dollars to help them. You said you work for an insurance company in Florida, what does your company executives think will fix the problem, let me guess they really have not said yet, except we need more money. If you really work in florida than you should know we already have a Florida Cat fund that saved dozens of companies from insolvency the last 2 years, If they had failed you would be paying more in premiums and taxes, the free market system can always do better than government, but when government screws it up, you need other options, Citizens is it for now, so what is your fix to the problem??? we are all waiting.

Hey Dismayed, what is your companies AM Best rating and what lines of business do you write, are you qualified to even talk about this stuff? do you have a license or are you a 800 phone jerk that read off a script. not being critcal but You took this personally and offered no solution.
Excess and Surplus markets are no longer player in most cases so what are people to do. Why do you think no other states have catastrophic claims issues, have you seen the news today? it getting bad in most east coast states, why would anyone want to live in California, they are going to fall off into the ocean WHEN the next big one hits, at least you can prepare for a hurricane, an earthquake just shacks the fecal matter right out of you with no notice. If Florida is so bad why does everyone over 60 years old retire here? it sure isn\’t because it is cheap to live here.
