FEMA needs to get a grip. There will always be these types of people just looking to abuse the system. Look at a map, track where the hurricanes hit, draw a circle around the area if you have to, then deny each and ever claim outside the lines.

Err on the side of the taxpayers money next time.

As far as the abusers are concerned, I hope seeing their names plastered for the entire NATION to see will give them a dose of healthy shame!

    Crime simply does not pay!!

Is that people who had no damage get thousands while people like my mother, who has no roof and can’t get anyone to help her, gets declined. She has holes in her roof, the screen room caved in, the ceiling in the Fla room is coming down, the walls are full of water, her kitchen cabinets are falling down from the water in the walls, and her carpet is moldy. She’s disabled, makes $10K a year, is still waiting for insurance settlement and has been declined by FEMA for any assistance. When she tried to file an appeal, they couldn’t find her file. If “one number or letter is entered incorrectly, they have no way of tracing her file”. So she had to start over again 3 weeks ago.
    WTG FEMA.

Why stop at the criminal element who claimed the loss. Someone from FEMA signed off on the loss. Is the fox watching the henhouse?? Go after those who did not do their jobs. Sounds like the same situation after Hurricane Andrew when it was discoverd many of the code enforcement officials in Dade County had not done the proper inspection while the homes were being built. Here we go again, it’s time to clean house!

I cannot believe it has taken this long to figure this out. I cannot believe they have only gotten to 14 people. When are the other 12K + going to be charged. There was NO damage in Miami due to any of these Hurricanes, it just makes me ill.

This is just the tip of the iceberg– The amount of free government money is beyond your imagination one mention of a key word and the home owner or renter can receive a check for ten thousand dollars no question asked no inspection of any kind. Some home owners have collected well over $30.000 more than they needed. Fema was not set up to handle 3 hurricanes at once so each home owner or renter can receive 3X the money the money is no problem there is more than enough to go around you tax payers should be outraged as to the fleecing of our pockets. You can bet for the next two years our Florida Governor (BUSH) will not attempt too make any changes not a chance in hell. Now if we had a Governor with moxy like Tom Gallagher this would not be happening.
