Here we go again. Yes, I agree to inc. Re-Ins for the Fund. Next you want to INCREASE assesments to 6% to the standard and Surplus regular Homeowners market. You think Fla has a problem now. You have not seen anything if another Andrew hits with this increased assesment!!!
There will not be a standard market in Fla.

Take note that the increase in assessments (actually a tax) to 6% of premium for one year and 10% of premium in the aggregate is on all property and casualty insurance lines with the exception of workers’ compensation. So the effect is that all p & c lines with the exception of workers’ compensation will be subsidizing the homeowners’ market in the event of a hurricane.

we live in Homestead , we have reuilt our home after andrew. and cannot find affordable insurance. we are retired 72 @73 yrs. old. we have lived in our home 35 years. its 4 bedrooms, 2 bath. but insurances we have had in the past use some excuses so they can cancel. we live on a small fixed income .we cannot afford 4 or 500 down payment and 150 a month payments. we pay our bills but if we were to have a hurricane are we to loose everything we have worked for???the only other thing is to sell our home and rent someplace else which we do not want to do. What is this cat ins.?

I live two blocks each way from the beach and intercoastal on Miami Beach. Maybe people might think I’m rich for living here, but quite the contrary. We’ve been living here for over 30 years. My husband is in his 50’s on disability and I’m in my 50’s and may need to go back to work. And if I do, I STILL won’t be able to pay the annual combined insurance bill of $5,550.00!
We saw our Homeowner’s jump from $600.00 to $1300.00 in two years. We saw our Wind coverage jump from $900.00 to now..a WOPPING $3500.00! Our Flood is still in the mid $500.00’s but I’m sure that will go up soon too. Meanwhile, the deductibles have gone up too, so in the case we need to make a claim, we have to consider that cost as well.

It seems to me that they don’t want to insure us down here in S. Florida or they leave us a very slim choice. My husand and I are considering self-insuring and to hell with these AL CAPONES.

WE CANNOT AFFORD INSURANCE AS IT IS NOW!

Does anyone knows how much an insurance company in Florida can increase its premium. I paid last year $1743.00 in homeonwers insurance premium and this year State Farm is increasing the premium to $5293.70.

IS THE STATE OF FLORIDA TRYING TO DRIVE OUT THE LITTLE MAN WITH THESE WHOPPING INSURANCE PRICES? THE INSURANCE COMPANIES WANT 1/2 OF THE MONEY DOWN AND THE OTHER HALF IN 90 DAYS.WHO ELSE BUT THE RICH CAN AFFORD THIS? SEEMS TO ME THAT FLORIDA ONLY WANTS THE RICH TO LIVE HERE. WE ALL NEED TO STAND UP TOGETHER AT ONCE AND TELL THEM WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS. HASN\’T ANYONE NOTICED ALL THE HOMES FOR SALE AND FOR RENT? DO WE HAVE TO SELL OUR HOMES THAT WE HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR BECAUSE WE NOW CAN\’T AFFORD THE INS.? WE ALL NEED HELP NOW NOT IN A FEW MONTHS TO YEARS! ISN\’T THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WILL COME TO OUR RESCUE!
