A contingent fee on a clear liability situation? Leave it to the corrupt, money grubbing, inbred cretins of LA to pass this. They should be reimbursed for billable hours. These claims are slam-dunks. Once again, screw the claimant.

Agree, the contingency fee is scam, particularly in this case. A blind, deaf, dumb, transgender, handicapped albino, illegal alien midget could handle one of these claims.

I totally agree. But this is entirely predictable, considering that our state and national legislatures (indeed our entire political systes), are infested with lawyers. How can we decry the irreparable environmental damage done by this spill when, after the lawsuits are filed, fully 40% (plus costs and expert fees) of the money earmarked for this disaster will be paying for lawyers’ contingencies? They produce nothing but hot air and paper; They offer no solutions to the problem at issue; yet they siphon of a huge portion of the money that could otherwise go toward stopping the leak and providing remediation in the area. We’re about to see a civil/political disaster heaped atop the environmental disaster.

Yup, contingency fees are sure helping the “little people”. Maybe that’s why pond scum floats, it generates it’s own bullbles.
