Many home buyers accross the country experience devastating financial damages due to seriously shoddy construction in new homes. This has been a national epidemic for years. More recently we can add predatory/fraudulent lending done by builders’ in house mortgage co’s, and the rights-stripping arbitration clauses in builder contracts and third party home warranty policies, as part of the reasons thousands of home buyers have big losses every year. At least this case is getting the publicity it deserves and will serve as a warning for other home buyers who have not yet committed to a contract. Make sure the builder isn’t taking shortcuts, and never sign a contract or agree to a warranty that has an arbitration clause. There is simply no excuse for the poor quality of so many new homes.
