Those who object to an insurance company dealing with auto repair and “depriving” the consumer of “choice” are probably the same ones who cling to the outdated consitutional “right to bear arms”.

Let’s be serious here. John Q. public knows jack squat about auto repair. He may have gotten a reference from one or two people about a shop. The insurance company has had hundred of vehicles repaired at the same shop and knows much more about the quality of repairs. The “choice” argument is hollow. People who revere thier hunk of metal won’t trust the company they pay to protect their interests and defend them against lawsuits but they’d rather trust a body shop? When a vehicle is damaged, it’s damaged. The repairs are either done correctly or they aren’t. Setting aside the argument for after market parts, the only variable is the integrity of the shop and the expertise of the people who work there. Choosing your own shop is a crap shoot. If you have a problem with the shop or the repairs……..you’re on your own. You have no leverage. Insurance companies do. People need to wake up and realize there is no insurance company consipracy to screw them.
