    Russell,
I have some tweezers to pull the splinters out of your chest if you need them. Sounds like you will.
Pull the cart a little further and you’ll begin to understand.

    Russell,

I have been saying this all along but you have people in tornado alley and living among fault lines and I don’t hear nearly as much trash talk as I do when it comes to the coast. Louisiana has its faults but if you bother to look at the articles on the IJ, corruption is an equal opportunity employer and not indigenous to one state. All the government has to do make sure the money is handled properly in the first place when it comes to rebuilding NOLA and you can cut down on the corruption.

Ooops, I forgot it’s the U.S. Government we’re talking about – the one that got us here in the first place and is Corruption Central…

Lafayette should have checked its language and then this would not have happened.

Insurers obviously never had any desire or intention to cover flood. They didn’t collect premium to cover flood. Future loss projections would not include the expenses you are so cavalier about. The policy, representing many years of evolution, clearly stated no flood coverage. If a human wants flood he buys it. Period. From Fema. If you want P & C policyholders to bear the expense of insurers subrogation against the government for losses insurers never meant to cover, didnt collect premium for and don’t want anything to do with, then calculate how much cost you all are willing to bear. Because you will pay for it, in your region, in the form of higher premiums. How very generous of you to ‘take one for the team’. Great way to put under an insurance company – make them pay for something they don’t cover. Maybe I should turn in my auto comp claim to my health insurer. I am sure they would love to subrogate too.

From TX, we have contractors working on hurricane rehab work there. Neither their wind pool or WC pool will allow a non-domiclied agent to write coverage through the programs.
Today, we then find the city of Metairie, immediately North of New Orleans, does not participage in the NFIP! I understand much of it lies behind the levees of Lake Ponchatrain. So the occupants cannot purchase flood coverage through the NFIB- does the city does not want to enforce building codes??? So they look for someone else to pay and other insurance appears to be the likely source.

And LA wonders why it has problems.

I’m not sure where you got your information regarding the NFIP. Metaire (part of unincorporated Jefferson) may not be part of the Flood Program but Jefferson Parish is. All of the parishes in South Louisiana participate in the National Flood Insurance Program.

Please update me then. I checked on both our Travelers Flood site for a Flood Zone Determination and then crossed checked with the NFIP- the City of Metaire is not listed and it says coverage is not available. If you would point me in the right direction, I would apprecitate it.
