As a 35 year veteran in GL claims I have no sympathy for anyone who is too dumb, stupid,lazy, or ignorant to install and maintain a smoke alarm on their own. If they’re so low on the food chain to be incapableor unwilling to take responsibility for a simple device that might save their life that’s too bad, but society isn’t their guardian. Granted, there may be some inidgent persons who really can’t afford one and I’m all for helping them. The truth is, most people aren’t in that category. They always seem to find enough money for cigarettes, lttery tickets, and booze. And they’re always smart enough to find the local personal injury attorney when something happens.
