One missing link in our information is what sort of disaster your agent is going through. People are people and he may have it worse than you and can\’t do anything if he wanted to.
Just a thought.
I know it is hard, but don\’t feel too bad. I have insureds who filed right after the storm and they haven\’t even seen an adjuster yet, and then I have some who have seen their adjuster 3 weeks ago and they are still waiting on their checks and/or estimates so they have an idea on how much their checks will be.
I think the reality is that this is a multi-year process. Huge parts of the whole gulf coast needs rebuilding. If you got a check the first week after the storm you couldn\’t have done much with it except find a dry bank and deposit it. That wouldn\’t have been a bad thing but it still wouldn\’t have got you back in your house yet.
I agree. But my statement was not about partial damages. If the agency office is destroyed along with all the records the agent can\’t do much more than a well-meaning next door neighbor. If the company isn\’t answering or returning calls to anyone, jumping around and screaming about it won\’t make a difference.
Susan, if your agent really isn\’t helping you and you want. You can always call the insurance commissioner. I am sure the LDOI has talked to many insureds who are frustrated with Katrina claims and they may be able to assist you or at least get some action going on your claim.
