There is NO asbestos litigation crisis, but there certainly is a national asbestos health crisis. In Texas, pending asbestos litigations amounts to less than all the family law cases in only one county — Harris County! To deny an individuals day in court through legislative fiat is frightening. The farmer’s wife, for example, who contacted an asbestos-related illness through contact with her husband’s clothing will have no judicial protection whatsoever. Listen, Pliny the Elder recognized the dangers of asbestos poisoning by the rasping coughs of Roman slaves who labored as asbestos miners — it ain’t no mystery folks!

I only can wish that all legislators that have never had to work a manual labor job and don’t nor will ever have asbestos in their lungs don’t ever have to go to court in Texas for justice. If they do I hope the law forbids them from getting recovery.Because I have now been forbidden from my recovery for my asbestos. When I get to sick to do anything or die it will be to late for the courts to give justice.
    Thank You Rick Perry

While working for the county in a summer youth work program my 16 year old son was directed to remove floor tiles in an old county building. I have been informed that the tiles contained asbestos. No protective breathing mask was supplied. The county judge had total disregard for the federal and state regulation regarding asbestos removal and the health of several teenagers in the work detail. If my son gets sick from this later in his life, how will he possibly prove his case; meanwhile I will foot the bill for annual health monitoring. Where is the justice in that !
