As the owner of a small independent auto glass shop these bill just honestly make me depressed. My husband and I have spent a decade in the auto glass industry becoming masters of our craft only to have BIG CORP line political pockets to literally pass laws that will likely put us and most others out of business. They’re already admiring to anti-competitive practices openly and blatantly and nobody is even batting an eye. I have no idea what we’re supposed to do with our lives once this happens and it will happen as they’ve already been allowed to run a monopoly pretty much unquestioned and untouched. I’ve watched my sales be cut in half since Safelite stopping allowing the independents to get any insurance work rather you’re part of their “in-network shop list or not” they stopped sending most of us any jobs and cut our pay rates by 25-50% in 2020 and 2021 while they also disconnected the phones to our shops and made us all start emailing, because why would you want to get a solution now for your customer when you can wait a few weeks to receive a reply by email.

      Hi Fawn,

I couldn’t agree more. I have been in the industry for 20 yrs and I’ve never seen it this corrupt. we independent shops must find the time to organize and have representation in our local and national political arenas. Which makes me sick to even think of. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find ways to battle this nonsense.
