Unless you include a proactive method to support a physician in practice improvement, scores will be useless for that purpose. Using claims data is also difficult as it is not a true method of quality of care, and different jurisdictions allow for vastly different awards. This type of scoring only looks at outcomes, and not the underlying reasons for variations in practice.
