Without the government reports detailing exactly what happened, how in the world would the plaintiffs be able to put forth a prima facie case of negligence against BP and others? They would have to hire their own experts to conduct the type of investigation conducted by the government…in other words, there is no way that any one company could afford to make their case.
The governmental reports are public records and will in all likelihood be admitted. Nice try BP.
Agreed, There is absolutely no reason to allow oil companies to be exempt from being accountable based on government studies and investigations, which are the presumed authority in charge of fact and fault finding.. Every other industry is, so will you be. No sweetheart deal to be found here.
