I hope the scientific community gets this right before the politcal community, namely, environmental crazies get involved and turn true science into a political science.

We already have the example of PS running against real science in the case of DDT and malaria, GMOs and feeding the hungrgy and the “golden rice” reductino of blindness in infants and children.

We all need to consider very carefully the science behind these possible advances and keep our political concerns out of it. However, sometimes the financial motivation for both sides produces “scientific” support that is not fact biased. I hate to say it but I have a jaundiced eye from questioning whether facts and scientif law are being run over by special interests. What’s a skeptic to do.

I don’t see where Prof. Huber is suggesting any alternatives, just taking pot shots at the existing stuff. Just what does he have in mind?

Early stage findings? Just what does that mean?
Findings such as these should not be published until after a peer review and final study to ensure that they are indeed correct. As Tom pointed out we have had many announcements that show one thing and later find that it was not correct, oops too late, damage done.
