With athletes being in better physical condition (with or without steroids), the velocity of “hits” has increased. As was pointed out “no helmet can eliminate concussions”. So…….the league must enforce rules againsts dangerous “head to head” hits and be prepared to suspend any violator for a full season in addition to a monetary fine for violating those rules. That’s the only real prevention. Too many muscle bound idiots are out there to be as animalistic and brutal as possible. The key to being a true professional is to play hard, but understand the limitations of play.

You don’t need to be a Neanderthal and try to scrample someone’s brains to make an effective tackle or force a fumble. Somewhere, the bull_hit has to stop. If they’re concerned over paralyzing hits, then they stop the brutality. I agree with Sanchez.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said rookie LB Sergio Kindle has a fractured skull. Just saying that hurts. Best wishes for speedy recovery. 17 minutes ago via web

This has nothing to do with this discussion Adam. But as long as you put it into play, here goes. What kind of stupid moron who was given the chance of a lifetime as an NFL top draft pick falls down two flights of stairs “at a house”? Running backs are nimble, coordinated guys with great balance. I don’t suppose he was either drunk or high on crack when this happened.

Hes a LB, and he wasnt wearing a helmet at the time – If he was, this could have been prevented.
