Where was Obama today? golfing or maybe playing basketball with friends, while all of the residence of the Gulf and Key West were wondering where the tourist are going to come from this summer.
it’s been 37 days now! what the hell are you waiting for? We should have absolutely every available resource working on this. You’re telling me they were able to bring the Apollo 13 astronauts home 35 years ago using technology less complicated than in your cellphone but they can’t figure out how to plug a leaky pipe????
Darn Right, Just Fix It!!!
I can barely listen to this anymore.
All the finger pointing as to who’s responsible. These animals and sealife are living in gunk while blame is flying back and forth. It makes me sick that so much time went by after the spill before anyone began doing anything to fix this horrible problem. Couldn’t they have cleaned it up and then figured out how to pay for it.
The article should more properly say that lawyers for Transoceans insurers filed an action to limit liability, which is a defense available in maritime law. I guess the President, a lawyer, and those bungling buffoons in Congress, most of which are ambulance chasing plaintiff lawyers, figures the laws are made only to suit their respective needs.
Should we be afraid?… I have read that there are something on the order of 36,000 oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico. They can’t figure out how to plug one well that is gushing oil. What happens if even one more of them suffers the same fate while this one is still gushing? Didn’t BP admit that they swore to the government that this type of accident couldn’t happen? I’m sure I saw a press conference regarding this….
Interesting positioning by the Obama team but it would be helpful to know the limits on the policy. Is the carrier looking to settle below limits or is Washington looking for them to pay more than limits?
If you’ll scour the news stories on this issue, I think you’ll find that the responsible parties have atempted several remedial actions. It’s our government who’s sitting on their hands while telling us that they’re in charge.

They’re too busy trying to make the other pay for it.

The Limitation of Liability Act does NOT apply to the Company’s liability under OPA-90 for pollution clean up.
I’ll bet that if those other 36,000 wells start to dry up, the insiders in the oil industry will get it plugged & find the responible parties.
