How can you file a suit for damages when you haven’t had any? Since this involves two of the most economically depressed states you can bet the local judges will pretty much allow anything. It will be interesting to see how they meet their burden of proof on damages.
It seems “fishy” that this occured shortly after Obama allowed expanded offshore drilling along the Atalntic coast.
A few other points:
1. it has been decades since the last offshore oil rig catastrophe.
2. modern oil rigs have redundend safety devices to prevent these disaters
3. the wellhead shut off valve is missing
4. the rig experienced 2 exposions
5. the 2nd exposion was so large and powerful it MELTED the platform and rig
Not that I am conspiracy theorist, but if an investigation finds sabatoge, does that let BP off the hook for claims and retribution?
2nd, why are you putting blame on OBAMA, just because he authorized the new oil expansion? you almost sound like rosie, whom i am suprised has not said a thing.
3rd, we as the USA, we need to truly get off of the arabian oil and get our own renewable resource or own oil… if you look, the gov’t is already spending way to much on oil now, due to the war… so let’s stop the panicking over the oil being drilled here and there… let’s put folks back into the workforce, but we just need to make it safe!
The point I was trying to make was that the explosion does not seem accidental but rather intentional. Originally I thought “radical” environmentalists were at hand but further consideration makes me think a much larger organization or possible state is behind the explosion.
I aggree that the US needs to drill domestically ONLY. The USGS has recently reevaluated the US domestic oil supply and found that US oil reserves are suffecient enough to supply our demand for next 2,000 years at current demand levels.
Why are we buying oil from anyone else in the world????? We can create jobs to pull us out of the recession and lower cost of goods produced and sold at the same time. Also, the US Government owns 80-90% of domestic oil giving the government royalty rights to all that oil. Think of it as an additional hidden revenue source.

It took the lawyers a week from the date of the explosion to get the class action lawusit filed. What took them so long?

I realize they trawl for shrimp but can’t they choose when and where to reel them in?
It’s amazing how much similarity there is between shrimp and attorneys. I’m just saying…

I do agree about my poor spelling.

Hope that clears up my original post.
