Wow is right. You obviously didn’t read the article and don’t know anything about the facts, or you wouldn’t be so impressed with your puerile reference to blowing. Are you 13? Or just a manager at Wal-Mart?

Wow is right! Ralphie, I was thinking the same thing. Great title (albeit somewhat misleading), otherwise I never would have read this boring article. I think Interesting needs to take himself/herself a little less seriously.

Yes, I worked at Sam’s club during the period referenced in the article. I was paid $2.00 less per hour than male coworkers, even though I was experienced and they were not.
This practice is not unique to Walmart though – the insurance industry has made it a practice to always pay female workers less than their male coworkers. Yet no one has filed a newsmaking class action lawsuit against insurance companies.
Just one of the “perks” of being female.

You are absolutely right and I hope you get every penny you deserve, despite the immature and dismissive comments here.

unfortunately, the only ones who will make money on this are the lawyers. “Every penny you deserve” will literally be just pennies by the time this is over.

and to Interesting and Boring–Lighten up. Try and laugh today; it’ll make you feel better.

Maybe in the corporate world there is an inequality, but when you factor in all the free drinks, meals women get… the speeding tickets they get out of… the $$$ spent while dating these women, that inequality shrinks quite a bit.

You’re correct-women in the insurance have been paid less. I know in my field job for an insurance company, the only discrimination which took place, occurred when the women field staff were not required to leave the office early or return late….because the company didn’t want a woman on the road late at night. Hummm, same pay for the same work? I don’t think so !

I’ve seen too many examples of reverse discrimination in the insurance industry. Example: women are often promoted regardless of their inability to obtain field experience usually required of a claims executive. They don’t want to crawl around in burned out buildings or under a wrecked car. They don’t want to go into dangerous neighborhoods to conduct investigations. BUT……they want the same opportunities regardless. Company’s cave in and promote “paper” claims professionals who don’t deserve it.

I’ve always said if you’re unhappy with your job…….quit and find a better one assuming you have the talent, skills, and motivation to find one. No one is holding a gun to your heads and making you stay. It’s a damn site better than trying to make the world kneel at the female altar.
