    This doctor has really hit the nail on the head. As a former military aviator, I can tell you that checklists are one of the most powerful safety tools out there. As the doctor mentioned, like any tool, you have to know how to use it- and that’s where culture comes in. Highly trained military aviation crew members are taught to back each other up on errors, regardless of rank or position- nothing personal, it’s just part of the business of flying safe. The medical community would do well to embrace the aviation safety culture.
