For the two clowns who don’t care……..you’re part of the problem. Apathy is one of the reasons this problem continues to exists. It’s been dubbed the “victimless crime”. Wake up bozos. You’re paying for these cretins who roam the streets feeding off responsible people. I agree w/Dread. Shoot them on sight.

Except for the 2004 Dodge Ram and the 2007 Toyota Corrolla every vehicle on this list is past the age that most customers will pay for comprehensive and collision coverages. When shopping for new vehicles, many of my customers ask which ones have the better insurance rates. The most stolen list tells them which ones NOT to buy. It would be helpful to have a list of the most stolen vehicles less than eight years old – the age when most of my customers consider dropping comprehensive and collision coverages.

On the other hand, having this list to show some customers may get them to retain comprehensive coverage if their model vehicle is on the list.

I would have thought you all would know better: the profit is in the parts! its not that everyone needs 1995 Civic parts but that the parts can be used for several model years. And in case you aren’t aware of this, there is a large market in the middle east and eastern and southern asia for these cars. The put them on container ships after they unload your Wal-Mart supplies and take them on the return trip. It’s good business sense on the shippers part and theives obviously can’t find a legitimate job so they find their niche in the stolen car market.

While I was working on a project for GAP insurance a couple of years ago I had to look at car thefts by state. Each state has a very different list of commonly stolen vehicles.

The parts scenario is definitelty a top reason the Civic is at the top but lets not forget that the 95′ Civ is the top choice of vehicle in most “hoods”. It’s affordability & ability to race it with easy aftermarket conversions (with stolen parts)make the 95 Civ the most “ghetto fabulous” car in every hood near you.

As usual I agree with dread. This list is not new. Its the same ol’ list year after year. “Ghetto Fabulous” thats great.
FYI- I chased the guy who was trying to steal my car and the cops told me to call them next time and wait for them in my house! So next time they came for my belongings I chased them down the alley with my weed puller, and the cops showed up 30 minutes later with all the dogs and helicopters with their guns pointed at me!
Telling ME to drop my “weapon” meanwhile the would be robbers got away. Now I have a german shepard, so when the robbers came back yet again, and the cops stared into the dark doing absolutely nothing, I yelled for my dog to get the robber and he did. He flushed out the robber in the weeds so the cops could cuff the guy. The problem is so much bigger then meets the eye. Now that I have a large dog who doesnt need a leash or a chain I havent had a problem. I dont get door to door salesman either or jehova witness either!!

Okay I have a ’97 Camry that will go to my 16 year old in a few months. It runs and looks great. I bought it new and took care of it, so I do not agree that my 1997 vehicle should be on its last leg. It really depends on the owner. I do auto claims and am appauled when I see the interiors of certain vehicles. I saw a 2004 Camry last week and it was disgusting (interior door panels were stained and worn, dingy seats, ruined mats, etc). Some people are just pigs with both the repairs and maintenance, as well as the interior upkeep.

Back to the article, there must be serious profit in the overseas market for these parts. Most Honda parts fit on different model years, so there is no suprise there.
