If GM is recalling those type vehicles, would seem logical to me that there would be liability on the part of GM, so in the end,the parents would not be out any $$ for the home repairs.
But subrogation isn’t exactly an overnight process. Just because it seems clear that there is liability doesn’t mean that GM will accept it and that their insurance carrier will pursue it…
My 1999 Buick Regal GS caught fire last Friday. March 28th. About two weeks after getting the letter from GM. My son drove it to school and after he got into the school building it caught fire. Fire department had to put it out. Total loss. Luckily no-one at the school was hurt nor my son. GM did not get the parts in in time for me to get mine repaired. Waiting on Buick to return my call. Guess I am number 268…1 out of a 1ooo.

Another reason American auto manufacturers are doomed. Detroit can’t seem to get it right.
