Interesting reaction from all based soley on this IJ report – which is almost identical to an article posted in newsday – http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/newyork/ny-bc-ny–brutalitysuit0228feb28,0,2384820.story

A simple “google” search shows more to the story than meets the eye – and while Mr. Lewis was in violation of “a law” it is clear that Mr. Bonanni’s past history doesn’t exactly show us he is one of NY’s finest…

    http://calibre.mworld.com/m/m.w?lp=GetStory&id=296203611

Mr. Bonanni’s record, going back 17 years, is a scathing indictment of both someone utterly unsuited to be a police officer and the police department and the city government that tolerated it.
His accumulated disciplinary record, totaling almost six years of suspension, restricted duty and administrative leave, had already become a very public embarrassment. Mr. Bonanni is suing Times Union columnist Fred LeBrun and Hearst Communications, the newspaper’s owner, for $9 million, alleging he was defamed in the newspaper in 2006.
Now, records released during Mr. Bonanni’s federal civil trial in Utica last week show he has been investigated for using excessive force against black people eight different times. In almost every instance, he was accused of kicking or punching suspects in the head while they were handcuffed.

I agree with many posts that people are painting a very poor picture without all the facts – Black-White-Hispanic or other – racisim has not place on the police force or in society – it happens – and based on what is shown above – Slapping Mr. Bonanni inot reality may be the right thing to do in this case

Thanks, you’re a better reporter than IJ.
