How can \”independent\” agents and brokers carry such a self-reliant label when they are actually \”producers\” (the sales arm) of insurers and, excluding 3/4 majors, recipients of insurer-paid commissions, contingent commissions and/or supplemental commissions. \”Independent\” of whom?
I have to agree with Jay! The 2006 data tells a different story. IA companies shrunk dramatically, Captives held their own, and Direct writers grew dramatically. IA\’s better wake up before the market passes them by. If they spent half their time focusing on how to grow their business (working the web) as opposed to \”Crying\” about the direct writers, they may actually grow their share.

Why bother issuing a two year old report? It\’s not the true picture today.
