Our industry should award continuing education credits for watching it, IMHO.

there\’s more truth in Grim\’s tales than anything that Algore produced, breathed, stated, snorted, or invented. Why didn\’t you start with the Michael Moore trilogy of terror before moving to Uncle Al.

Funny how all the record high temps occurred in the 20\’s and 50\’s when I see them covered…almost sounds like it could be cyclical…I\’ll run and buy me some carbon credits so I can offset my increased use of electricity for my replies on this site…Rosie, you might wanna get a head start, I\’ve noted allot of hot air with little substance coming out…you better get busy plantin\’ them trees and investing in uncle Al\’s green (green as in $$$) technology before your toes get wet.

The weather guru\’s take a stab, much like throwing darts at a dartboard. When they\’re wrong, we don\’t hear from them, but if they get one right…we\’ll be hearing all summer about their dire warnings.

No one on this planet knows. Guess if you want to. Sad thing is there\’s folks out there who are probably rooting for a nasty season just so they can say I told you so and blame it on neocons or some other tinfoilhatted hatred of diversity that doesn\’t fit into their narrowly diverse point of view.

Going off of what Chad is saying, it makes me sad that there is no happy medium with this country. It\’s all or nothing. I admit, I REFUSE to live as though it were 1845 (I NEED my air conditioning). BUT, I honestly don\’t see what wrong with recycling, using recycled products, living inside your means (not having two huge houses, Al Gore), etc….

That\’s what makes me laugh about these so called \”dems\” that are going to save the world….Al Gore is a great example, two houses which had to destroy some natural habitat in order for him to have it still living a life with air conditioning, etc…yet, preaches to everyone how the world is on it\’s last leg. Well walk the walk. Give up your privleges and then lets talk. Same to you Rosie. So what if I watch his stinking documentary. Are YOU willing to live a life that would get this earth of the supposed life support it\’s on????

actually, since recent hurricanes have tended to hit strong liberal areas, or areas where people were crushed by 40 years of failed liberalism, you could argue that the hurricanes are God\’s punishment on the Dems, or America in general, for the the havoc the libs have wreaked.
Or Rosie could be right. The good news is we have free speech and the right to spout any opinion. Obviously Rosie thinks only her opinions should be allowed to be spoken, but not to worry. George Bush is sending a whaling ship up the east river to harpoon her fanny.

    1. William Gray does not believe in human-induced global warning. His predictions cannot, then, be based on that.

    2. Kerry Emanuel is the leading proponent of human-induced global warming as the cause of increased hurricane activity, but even Emanuel says that Gore\’s claim that global warming caused Katrina is bogus.

    3. Everyone, regardless of their scientific belief as to why, predicted a higher than average hurricane season last year, partly on the assumption that the 5-7 year El Nino Southern Oscillation would remain in a weak La Nina state.

    4. The La Nina cycle ended and was replaced by an El Nino cycle, which suppressed hurricane formation.

    5. The next El Nino won\’t occur until 5-7 more years, so the predictions are similar to last year\’s, but with greater certainty this time.

It\’s Easter. And every year kids at this time are told to expect to see the Easter Bunny which they never do. And adults are told by the same doomsayer pinheads to expect to see \”increased hurricane activity\” which we never do. Coincidence? Or is the Easter Bunny predicting the weather?

Paul, you need to consider more than one year before making comparisons to the easter bunny, unless you mean to say that 2006 was the first year you haven\’t seen him in the last seven.

    Bloomberg, 2005:

In many years, “Dr. Gray\’s Tropical Storm Forecast,\’\’ the title of a Colorado State Web site where the free report is updated monthly during the hurricane season, proved uncannily accurate. Early in 2002, 2003 and 2004, the reports correctly predicted the number of named storms in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico for the entire year.

Last year, when a record 28 named storms formed in the Atlantic, the Colorado State report sounded an early alarm, warning in May 2005 of “a well-above-average hurricane season\’\’ and predicting 15 named storms.

    Hurricane Protection Magazine, 2004:

For the sixth consecutive year, the CSU forecast team was on track with their seasonal hurricane forecast. The team’s forecast numbers were on target with the number of named storms and hurricanes that occurred, but fell short in predicting the large amount of intense hurricanes that formed and concentrated in and around Florida in August and September.
