Individual Health Policies Cost Insurers Less Than Group

    Yes, it\’s because they won\’t WRITE ANYONE on a personal policy, so of course they spend less. The only people who can get invidual coverage are those who have absolutely no preexisting conditions. Otherwise, it\’s COBRA or HIPAA for you!

    You mean if you buy a policy with less benefits the premiums are lower and you get less paid at claim time?
    Dang. Imagine that!
    This is a real lesson in the obvious. I hope they didn\’t spend money to discover this.

    Another equally credible study shows it gets dark on the East Coast before it gets dark on the West Coast.

    What are the drivers for higher cost in case of employer sponsored/group insurance policies?

    Group policies have benefits that as an individual you likely won\’t buy. Dental for example. Alcohol rehab if you don\’t drink at all. Drug rehab if you don\’t think you could ever be affected. A lot of things people think won\’t or can\’t happen to them gets left off of individual policies because they don\’t want to pay for it.
