When someone (especially someone you know) steals your personal information to secure loans, misuse your credit cards, etc, it takes an act of God to get these items expunged from your credit report. I had a family member open up 4 credit cards in my name and mailed to her address. She rung up over $15000 in debt, filed and received unemployment benefits in my name, and stole credit card information from my trash can and charged anothe $2400 on that card before I caught it. What can I do?? When a family member knows, my name , DOB, SS#, DL#, mother\’s maiden name, prior addresses and employement info, it leaves you WIDE open to theft. I now have an arrest record because of bad checks she passed in my name and can\’t do anything about it! This is why I have such a hard time with credit rating being used for EVERYTHING, phone service, insurance, all loans, even library card issuance! If you can\’t get rid of the fraudulent items, what do you do?!
