These ratings are only available to insurance compnanies who are ISO members. The ratings don’t make any sense! My son was driving a 91 Mercury Sable, which had a symbol rating of 3 according to my ins. co., and was paying $102/6 mos. for liability. He recently upgraded to a 97 Honda Accord, which has anti-lock brakes and is much lighter and more manueverable than the Sable, and his symbol rating is now 15 and his liability went to $273/6 mos.! The higher incidence of theft, and higher repair cost of a Honda should have NO impact on liability coverage! I think the whole system is a scam, justifying them to charge whatever they want!
