A bill introduced by Sen. Don Nickles (R-Okla.) is a common-sense solution to the asbestos litigation crisis, says the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA).
IIABA, which represents 300,000 agents and brokers, will engage in a “grassroots effort” to get the Asbestos Claims Criteria and Compensation Act (S. 413) passed.
The bill aims to reduce the costs associated with asbestos litigation by requiring claimants to identify specific asbestos-related symptoms before their claim is litigated. The bill also extends the statute of limitations on those who have actually been hurt by exposure to asbestos.
