This won’t sound good regardless of how I couch it, but what’s the damages here. This poor bastard had severe brain damage and was on a ventilator. This could be a blessing in disguise. And now the parents want money.

They don’t want anything that’s really all that crazy though. I don’t really think it’s all that unreasonable. It’s not my place to comment on the quality of life, but if there is a decrease as a result of it, isn’t that compensable? Though it’s arguable that would have been the end result if he would have been on the ventilator all that time.

The damages are from bad to worse. Ventilator doesn’t mean dead.

Blessing in disguise? I don’t think so. Prior to this he was responsive and now he’s not.

They’re not asking for millions upon millions of dollars, but something comparatively small. The doctors left him off a ventilator when he should have been on one. Do you think their error should go unnoticed?
